TOUR IN BANGKOK IN THE SILOM AND SATORN AREAS
This is Thailand's momentous business and financial centre, housing luxury condominiums, 5 star hotels, law firms, high rise buildings, mega-malls, high class spas and eclectic street markets. Silom is an unforgettable experience with its extravagant range of shops, restaurants, bars and clubs to explore. Recent years have seen the construction of the Sky train, providing fast and efficient travel as well as affording stunning views of the city. Despite its title as a business centre, Silom has a huge array of choice catering to everyone tastes. Ranging from its skyline views and buzzing night-life, to its relaxing public parks and boxing stadium (home of Muay Thai), museums and even a traditional Thai puppet theatre.
By morning - in Silom you can visit the mega-malls and behold the unlimited choice of items to buy for friends, family and yourself, or merely window-shop at the sheer array of goods. From there you can explore Lumpini Public Park, which is a wonderful place for people wanting a peaceful, tranquil time to relax away from the fast paced streets of the city. It is so popular that on an average working day approximately 20,000 people visit the park. That's not to say that it ever feels crowded, spanning 147 acres and containing a large artificial lake, Lumpini park's beautiful views can be enjoyed on foot or by bicycle. Or visitors can take time to enjoy other spectacular sights, such as the King Rama VI monument from a pedal or row boats.
By afternoon - you can pay a visit to Lumpini boxing stadium, the home of Muay Thai (Thai boxing), the most passionately followed sport in Thailand. It is an indoor sporting arena where Muay Thai contests are held Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with a capacity of 9,500 people. Lumpini stadium is one of the most popular stadiums in the country, where you will see the best fighters battle it out for Thailand's number one spot.
By evening - Bangkok is transformed by its famous nightlife, and Silom is no exception, with its mixture of budget and high class attractions. Whatever you want it's here, from Silom's red light district in Patpong to its relaxed and chilled bars. Enjoy a cold beer or soft drink in the many sports bars that show any and every live sport worldwide. Or visit chic clubs such as the Moroccan grotto and Lucifer's club, or the more high class Vertigo, and Moon bar and restaurant.
Soi (road) Patpong is infamous for its saucy go-go bars, racy ping pong shows, but also its night markets. Where you can buy an array of dvds, t-shirts, fake watches, shoes, and any thing else unusual you could think of. There's always a bargain to be had depending on your willingness to barter.
The club scene in Silom embraces a wide range of music genres that will match anyone's taste. With clubs such as the newly built 9 Night club, which has a three storey floor that plays techno, to the Park Bridge club, where the more hardcore clubbers go to immerse themselves in real party culture. If this does not suit your taste there are many clubs that play hip hop, dance, hardcore techno and house and more. While there are always the more high class and astonishing Vertigo and Moon bar and restaurant, situated on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree hotel, with an open air roof top lounge. The views are simply breath taking as you look down on to the streets of Bangkok and up to the sky and stars.
