TOUR FROM BANGKOK TO AYUTTHAYA

TOUR FROM BANGKOK TO AYUTTHAYA

TOUR DESCRIPTION . The tour starts with a pickup by an air-conditioned minivan from your hotel in downtown Bangkok, leaving for Ayutthaya and requires a full day.
Ayutthaya was one of the ancient capitals of Thailand and is a UNESCO World Heritage listed site. The magnificent ancient capital was founded in 1350 by King U-Thong, King of Siam, at the junction point of the Lopburi, the Prasak and the Chao Phraya Rivers. During its 417 years as the capital, it had 33 kings of 5 dynasties ruled the kingdom. These Siamese kings repelled many Burmese raids, but the city was finally sacked by the Burmese in 1767, closing this chapter in history.
TourBangkok.ORG tours to Ayutthaya take in what are now the ruins of this ancient city and its historical precinct protected by the UNESCO World Heritage Listing.
You will see crumbling ruins and rows of headless Buddha's and statues where an empire once bloomed but yet it will still leave you in awe. Because of its amazing architecture and memorable mix of Khmers and Sukhothai styled temples.
There are some interesting options for getting around also - you can ride through the ruins atop an elephant, or take a ride in a horse-drawn cab.

CUSTOMER'S REVIEWS

The ruins are beautiful and evocative. An amazing historic site which would have been stunning before it was plundered. The place is steeped in Thai history. I like this city very much. It is really wonderful to look at all the old ruin and imagine what a city this must have been. There are so many temples and little areas that bring a smile to my face. If you like history it is a must vist.
Leeds, United Kingdom

Visiting the many ruins of Ayutthaya makes a very interesting day tour from Bangkok. We visited many sights including the Summer Palace, Wat Puthaisawan, Wat Mahathat, Wat Panan Choeng and Wat Phra Sri Samphet. If driving to Ayutthay from Bangkok it takes approx 1.5 hrs, try & visit the area in the morning as the afternoons can get incredibly hot & there is limited shade around the Wat's. The ancient city of Ayutthaya was found in 1350 by King U Thong and later became the capital of Thailand. However, in 1767 the city was destroyed by fire and all the beautiful temples and buildings were set alight by the Burmese Army. Today, it's a recognized UNESCO World heritage site.
