The tour begins with hotel pickup from downtown Bangkok around 7.30 am. Visit the cemetery of allied prisoners of war who were among the many thousands who died while working on the construction of the Burma Death Railway during the Second World War. The journey continues to the railway "Bridge on the River Kwai", made famous by the movie of the same name. Next stop is at the waterfalls of Saiyoke, followed by lunch at 12 o'clock. At 13:00 we move on to visit the Temple of the Tigers with an opportunity to caress and embrace a tiger. At 15:45 we return to Bangkok, arriving back at the hotel between 17:00 and 18:00. Tour cost includes all entry tickets.
The temple of the tigers has been around for over ten years now, this Buddhist temple houses and takes care of numerous animals, of which the tigers are the most popular as they can be stroked and watched on their daily routine. The temples first tiger cub didn't arrive till 1999 but sadly it died as it was brought by local villagers in poor condition. As the years went on adult tigers became victims to poachers and thus during this time a few cubs were given to the temple. Because of this several cubs have been bread and now the temple is home to more than 12 tigers. Everyday the tigers are led on leashes by monks to a quarry where they can roam free and play with each other. During this time it is allowed by visitors to enter the quarry and watch the tigers from 10 meters away.
The temple accepts donations from visitors as the monks continue to collect funds so that they can build a larger and livable sanctuary for the tigers to live.

"The notorious Burma-Siam railway, built by British, Australian, Dutch and American prisoners of war, was a Japanese project inspired by the need for improved communications to maintain the large Japanese army in Burma. During its construction more than 16,000 prisoners of war died-mainly of sickness, malnutrition and exhaustion - and were buried along the railway. Imprest Burmese and Malay laborers too died in their thousands-exactly how many will never be known."

CUSTOMER'S REVIEWS

Tiger temple
This is well worth a visit if you are interested in wild life and tigers. The Buddhist monks take the tigers in that have had problems in the wild. You can touch the tigers and even hold them on a lead as they walk to a watering hole. The tigers are well treated and the monks and volunteers really care for them. Be warned though, it can be very hot so take a hat! I loved playing with the baby tigers in the water together. A great vist.

Tiger temple
Family of 4 (2 adults and 7 and 10 year old) on the tour we got to be very hands on with the tiger cubs. You will hand feed, bathe and play with babies, very good for children. Adults can do same with scarier older ones. The volunteers were very helpful and informative and fantastic with our children. You will have no problems taking your camera for photos they take heaps for you. Recommend everyone wear flip flops because you have to continually take off your shoes when in temple and playing with cubs. Memories of a life time for the kids and us

Bridge Over the River Kwai
We did this tour from Bangkok stopping at the cemetery, museum and the bridge. We had a basic knowledge of the WW 2 history of the death railway. As with other WW2 historical sites we have visited we found this to be a quite humbling and very insightful experience. Being in that intense heat you can only imagine the suffering of those involved in the building of this bridge and railway .For those with a fear of heights I would not recommend walking across this bridge. Would have no hesitation in recommending this trip while in Bangkok
