TOUR FROM BANGKOK
DAMNOEN SADUAK FLOATING MARKET/ELEPHANT SHOW/ ROSE GARDEN CULTURAL SHOW
FULL DAY TOUR DEPARTING FROM BANGKOK
TOUR DESCRIPTION . Overview of the tour: Khlong Damnoen Saduak is the name given historically to the canal excavated by soldiers and the local people during the reign of King Mongkut and was finished in 1868. It is 35 kms long, and links the Tha Chin and Mae Klong rivers in the central western province of Ratchaburi. The project was principally undertaken to facilitate transport and trade, by creating smaller canals that link towns and villages along the way. At Damnoen Saduak a good part of the population lives along the banks of the canal; most of them are farmers who grow a variety of tropical fruits such as papaya, oranges, coconuts, bananas, guava etc. The canals also provide a source of water for irrigation.
Today the floating market at Damnoen Saduak is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Thailand. Apart from locally grown tropical fruits, the market vendors also sell a variety of produce including vegetables, meat, fish, handcrafts and souvenirs. The floating market is 109 kms from Bangkok and our tour guide will give you commentary on places of interest along the way, including an early morning stop at the Railway Market.
For lunch the tour stops off at the picturesque Rose Garden which is a Tropical Garden full up with all the beautiful tropical flowers and especially the Thai Orchid and Roses. The vist to the Rose Garden also includes an extensive buffet lunch while watching a cultural Thai show. While dining into the lavish buffet you get to view the performances of a Buddhist ordination procession, Thai boxing, hill tribe dances, elephants at work and a traditional Thai wedding ceremony. You can also ride an elephant for 20 baht per person for 5 minutes and this is one of the true authentic and memorable moments during your vist to Thailand.

CUSTOMER'S REVIEWS
Damnoen Saduak floating market
Some people said this was touristy and perhaps it is but it is such a tradition of Thailand that it is a must do and vist. We did this one as it was on the way out of town and more traditional. Our guide took us back through some of the neighborhoods off the beaten waterway so we could see how people live. It wasn't surprising to see children swimming and bathing in the water...adults using the water to rinse out clothing etc. Their lives from the waterways are VERY different that what you see in Bangkok. I loved this part of our trip.

Damnoen Saduak floating market
We enjoyed the floating market trip thoroughly ... Had a very nice farmer boat ride and the boat guy took us around for an hour and our tour guide had to call us to return back :).. Around 7 /15 of us in the group took the boat option and it was worth the experience. The boat guy observed the things we were trying to buy and took us to boats/shops were the price was 1/4th . We all had a very good time and loved the toured.

Taling Chan floating Market
If you want to experience how local people enjoy their food in a special environment; then come to Taling Chan market. The market is rather small and is not that popular with tourists; actually, when I was there (3pm on Saturday) there were more than 80% local people enjoying their lunch and not many foreigners. We ordered two different salad, grilled fish and shrimps. Excellent fresh food and very delicious and truly authentic food. The drive from the city center is about 20 minutes. Avoid it when you want to see a market where people buy their produce if you want that then go to the other more commercial floating markets.
