TOUR DESCRIPTION .
This tour is usually combined with the tour of the royal palace and temples of Bangkok, and offers an insight to the lives of the people who live on the banks of the river Chao Phaya, where shanties built among the piles co-exist side by side with luxury villas.
The halfway point of this tour is Wat Arun (also known as the Temple of Aurora). This is a magnificent Khmer style temple built when Ayutthaya was still the capital of Siam. It is 76 metres high and has a long and steep staircase to an observation terrace. We then continue our tour observing the traditional lifestyle of the people that live beside the river.

One of the best ways to explore Bangkok is by motor launch along the Chao Phraya River canals and the Tonburi's canals . The Tonburi's canals are located on the east side of the river and they reveals scenes at odds with the bustling, modern inner city.
Tourists get a glimpse of the serene and simple lifestyle of riverbank dwellers . This authentic view of Bangkok is what long time ago' earned the title of "Venice of the East" . En route, stop at Wat Arun .

Khrung Thep the city of angels (khrung Thep is Bangkok in Thai) is known as the Venice of the east and by traveling down the Chao Phraya river by a motorised long tailed-boat. You will see how the local residents have lived for centuries in shanties built among the piles of ruble which co-exist side by side with luxury villas. During your time traveling down the river the picturesque scenes of typical Thai canal life you will get to see attractions such as the Royal Barge Museum which lets you see the historical barge of Thai kings, the temple of Wat Arun also known as the " Temple of the dawn " this is because it was named after Aruna, the Indian God of Dawn. The outstanding feature of Wat Arun is its central prang (a prang is a Khmer-style pagoda), which is about 80 meters tall and symbolizes the legendary Mount Meru, center of the universe. The second of the temples you will se is Wat Po which is Bangkok's oldest and largest temple. It houses the Reclining Buddha which is 46 meters long and 15 meters high. His body is covered in gold plating and he is decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay on his eyes and the soles of his feet. The bottoms of the Buddha's feet are intricately decorated with 108 auspicious scenes in Chinese and Indian styles.

It is recommened to combine the canals tour with a visit to the Grand Palace. Bangkok Royal Palace is Bangkok's most famous landmark but also the spiritual heart of Thai people . The Grand Palace is a former residence of the Kings of Thailand and thai people really love their king . During the tour we will visit inside the Royal Palace a number of elaborate buildings and structures , including the Reception Palace, the Funeral Palace, The Throne Hall and the beautiful revered Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

It is a major river in Thailand, with its low alluvial plain forming the centre of the country. It runs through Bangkok, the capital city, and then empties into the Gulf of Thailand.
ABOUT KLONGS . The khlongs are the canals located in the central plain of Thailand. These canals are spawned by the Chao Phraya, the Tha Chin, the Mae Klong Rivers and their tributaries. The Thai word khlong is not limited to artificial canals, infact also many smaller rivers are referred to as khlong followed by the name of the stream .
